Dr. Reed comments

I thought that the conversation of class this week was important. I think it is important to recognize what the potential struggles are, instead of hoping you will simply overcome them. It is difficult to let go of preconceptions, but the first step must be identifying them. The other strongest take away for me was this concept of starting with what the community does well. I appreciated the way she looked critically at places to identify potential allies and resources, how you can take any aspect and really make use of it to reach your end goal. Despite the fact that it may seem obvious after it is said, in this realm it appears to be  a bit of a novel approach.
